Tourism Preview

This department is at the helm of developing and promoting the tourism industry in Lesotho by providing an enabling environment for tourism growth and development, it does this by performing the following functions:

Develops national plans to guide the industry e.g. development of integrated national tourism master plans and strategies;
Develops tourism policies, appropriate legal and fiscal frameworks for the industry;

Promotes development e.g. designation of Tourism development Areas (TDAs), Selected Development Areas (SDAs) etc;
Coordinates tourism industry initiatives and develops and liaises with other Government Ministries and Departments;
Coordinates and liaise with regional and international organisations e.g. SADC and UNWTO;
Creates awareness on tourism services
Establishes and maintains standards through licensing of tourism enterprises.
