On the 12th of July, 2017 The management of the Ministry of Tourism, Environment and Culture welcomed the new Minister, Honourable ‘Mamotsie Motsie. She was welcomed with warm hands as the management shared their achievements, aspirations as well as their challenges. On behalf of the management, Mr Damane said the Ministry has been earmarked as one of the ministries that have the potential to minimise or reduce poverty given the required resources. He also said a lot has to be done in order to change the mind-sets of the people to the advantage of the tourists as the ministry cannot work in isolation making examples such as the burning of grass by herd boys, the ministry’s non -involvement in the mining sector especially sand stone mining which causes pollution and many others while at the same time expected to increase the GDP of the country.
When welcoming the Minister, the Principal Secretary Mr Khomoatsana Tau said the management really work hard to achieve their goals and is very proud that whenever there are complications, they always report for rectification. In her speech, the Honourable Minister said that she has heard that the Ministry of Tourism, Environment and Culture ids a very important factor to the lives of Basotho and that she would really like to work together with the departments to achieve the Ministry’s goals and in so doing contribute to the development of the country’s tourism industry.
